WELCOME TO OUR NEW HERMIT CRABS!

My goodness it has been awhile since we've shared out what the Grade Ones have been doing... Where did November go?

Here are some updates!

Meet our new friends Howard, Amy and Sheldon Wakz!  This month, the Grade Ones earned their gems in the peace jar and as a reward they chose to get hermit crabs for a class pet!  The children are having fun watching the crabs move and are doing a great job feeding them each day!

The children have been learning to read and write with great success!  We've also been busy solving problems using addition.  Here are a few snapshots of students at work!

OUR PUMPKIN INVESTIGATION!

The children have been investigating big and small pumpkins.  On Wednesday, they got to explore the inside of the pumpkins and cut the seeds to explore what was inside. Here are a few snapshots to show the learning taking place:

Do big pumpkins have more seeds than small pumpkins?

Researching and planning how to plant the seeds.

Are the seeds smaller inside the small pumpkin?

What is inside the seed?

Look at what is inside the seed!

Drawing and writing about their discoveries!

How can we break it open?

We are planting it in hills just like the book!

We also had a "HOOT" making our newspaper owls!  Thank you to the volunteers who helped us!

Just a reminder...
All magazine orders are due into the office November 15th.  Parent/Teacher interviews are this Tuesday night.  Please send in your interview request sheet ASAP to get an interview scheduled.  Thank you!! :)
